Support C – Sirolimus-Eluting Coronary Stent System

Support C is a coronary balloon catheter coated with the drug paclitaxel.

Balloon Design

Support C is a coronary balloon catheter coated with paclitaxel. It features an advanced hypotube design for optimal performance. The balloon's low profile and distal shaft design make it ideal for navigating difficult lesions in tortuous vessels. Its unique design provides high kink resistance, excellent pushability, and great torquability. The balloon material is optimized for high burst resistance, even in calcified lesions, while the hydrophilic coating enhances handling and drug deliverability.

Drug Design

Paclitaxel is a well-established anti-proliferative agent with a cytostatic mechanism of action that maintains vessel health without destruction. It is integrated into a Butyryl-tri-hexyl citrate (BTHC) polymer, which ensures optimal bioavailability by keeping the agent crystalline. This polymer degrades into citric acid and alcohol, offering high biocompatibility. The combination of Paclitaxel and BTHC facilitates rapid absorption at the target lesion.

Coating Design

The coating provides a homogenous and uniform release of Paclitaxel, ensuring consistent vessel treatment. The coating covers the cylindrical and tapered sections of the balloon, extending beyond the proximal and distal markers. After application, paclitaxel remains in the tissue for several days, enhancing its therapeutic effect.
